Following the reports about the alleged suspension of the Managing Director (MD) of Cross River State Water Board Limited, Dr. Godwin Igile, the Chairman of the Cross River State Universal Basic Education (SUBEB), Dr. Stephen Odey has debunked the rumours making the rounds about his appointment as the new Acting MD of Water Board.
In a statement signed by Dr. Odey, he said that Dr. Igile remains the Managing Director of Water Board as he’s on a rescue mission as directed by the State Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade.
The press release states thus, “The information making rounds that I have been appointed as the Acting Managing Director (M.D) of Water Board is totally false.
“My presence there these few days has been on a fact finding mission on instruction of His Excellency, the Governor and to report back to him.
“The general public should discountenance such information as being circulated on the internet, as Dr Igile remains the Managing Director of Water Board”.
CALABAR REPORTERS gathered that, Dr. Odey addressed about four hundred (400) contract staff on Friday at the Company’s premises in Calabar. The contract staff according to findings has been the pivot of Water Board since time, therefore, the maltreatment of the workers might have caused the scenario on ground now.
In all and all, Cross Riverians who got in contact with CALABAR REPORTERS are demanding for a functional Water Board that will provide 24/7 portable water supply across the metropolis and urban areas.
