C’River First Lady to flag-off 1st round of National Immunisation Plus Days (NIPDs)

Wife of the Executive Governor of Cross River State, Dr Linda Ayade will tomorrow flag-off the Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency First Round of National Immunization Plus Days scheduled for 25th – 28 March, 2017 at Primary Healthcare Centre, Kasuk by 10am.

Speaking, Dr Betta Edu who spoke through the Director Primary Healthcare, Dr Ana Onebiene said the flag off is inline with the national immunisation plus days activities, WHO and UNICEF drive to see that no child dies from vaccine preventable diseases. The Polio vaccination interventions will be given to Children from 0-59 months while other routine immunization services for children under 5 and tetanus toxiod for pregnant women will continue in all health facilities.

According to her, Health workers will visit house to house, schools, churches, mosques and Markets to vaccinate children against Polio and Routine Immunisation while Tetanus toxiod will be given at the Health Facilities.

Dr Inyang Asibong, Honourable Commissioner for Health, Cross River State

Finally she said the flag off exercise will also have in attendance the Honorable Commissioner of Health, Dr Inyang Asibong and other key health stake holders. She tasked every staff involve in the process to live up to expectation and take the process very serious as every data gathered will be very vital to the state and the collaborating partners. The DG promised to be present to monitor the exercise in the 18 LGAs in CRS.

Also Speaking, Mrs Agnes Ogogo, State Social Mobilization Officer said so far they have been mass social mobilization in all the communities for the immunisation Plus Days through advocacies, Mass media and town criers in all communities. She solicited for church leaders to provide the Agency and World Health Organization (WHO) with their phone numbers and names for communication on some significants matters as well ensure the announcement for the Polio campaign on Sunday service and at all weekday activities.

To this effect, Parents/Caregivers should make their children available for the vaccination and flag-off tomorrow while head of schools, churches and mosques should cooperate with the Health Workers for the good health of our children.
