80 HP Speed Boat donated by Senator Gershom Bassey to Ikot Ana Community of Biase LGA

The Senator representing Cross River South at the upper chamber, Senator Gershom Bassey has recently donated 80 HP powered Speed boat to Ikot Ana Community in Biase Local Government Area of Cross River State to aid farmers to facilitate their products to the market. The innovation has also empowered Youth who are now using the medium to generate revenue for their pockets as well as keep themselves busy.

In the spirit of the yuletide, Sen. Bassey, doled out cash to his constituency in what he described as showing love to the people.

The Senator said the act was to reciprocate the love and endearing support the people showed him throughout 2016. He said “it’s a season of goodwill, it’s a season of love. Its time to show love, and what I’m trying to do here is thank my constituency for the support they’ve given me. The really endearing love they’ve given throughout 2016, and even before then. I thought that it is important to do something symbolic, and it’s that act of symbolism that has made me understand the people of my constituency apart from voting, the positive things they’ve sent to me and ideas. They’ve also actually given me things. They’ve given me yams, bush meat and all sorts’ of things for Christmas.

Obong Ekpe as he’s fondly called by his people gave out cash of over Ten million, seven hundred thousand naira (N10,700,000) as he touched every area of his constituency including the women and youth who he identified as being very proactive as he empowered them with five hundred thousand naira (N500,000) per local government area and twenty thousand naira (N20,000) each to all his ward Coordinators while speaking at Jorany Hotel, calabar, venue for the meeting.

The recipients who spoke in unionism through one of the chapter chairmen present thanked the senator for the largesse and pledged to continue to support him come 2019. He urged the people not to relent in supporting the senator and also urged them to continue to do their bit to make the vision of their leader a reality.

As a senator representing Cross River State Southern Senatorial District, Gershom has also been active and promising in the National Assembly for he’s chaired the joint Senate and House of Representative committees on National planning, foreign debt, Finance and Appropriation to reviewing the 2016 /2017 budget presented by the Minister of Budget and Planning, Senator Udo Udo Udoma.

More to that, Gershom was handy during the oversight function at the State House where he was a member of the committee on Federal Character and Economy planning. He has turned the hoodoo Cross River State used to have concerning their representative being taciturn in the National Assembly especially his involvement during the Petroleum Industry Governance Bill Public Hearing, where he made a vital assumption on the operation of the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) with Mr Mordecai Danteni Laden, Director of department of petroleum resources; how it will benefit the Government and the people of Nigeria.
