Good News: Ndoma Egba cleared by Senate for NDDC Chairmanship

Great news for Cross River State and Nigeria in whole as the National Assembly has cleared the Leader of the Seventh Senate, Victor Ndoma-Egba SAN, as the substantive chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

according to valid reports, Ndoma Egba yesterday faced the Senate committee on NDDC chaired by Senator Peter Nwaoboishi (PDP, Delta North) and following the tradition, was asked to take a bow and go having been a member of the Senate in the fifth, sixth and seventh assembly where he became majority leader.

In an opening remarks before he was asked to take a bow, Senator Ndoma-Egba promised the Senators and members of the House of Representatives who came as observers that he is determined to change the narrative of the Niger Delta region.

His confirmation by the Senate makes him the third Cross Riverian after Ekpo Okon and Bassey Henshaw to become the Chairman of the NDDC with the commissioner nominee representing Cross River State, Sylvester Nsa who was the deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the 2015 general elections among those who were also scheduled to face the committee yesterday.

It will be recalled that weeks after his nomination, Ndoma visited President Muhammadu Buhari in Aso Rock to discuss the President’s development dreams for the region.

Senator Ndoma Egba, a native of Akparabong in Ikom local government area of central Cross River State, became works commissioner at the age of 27 in the old Cross River State and his political career has been on the ascendancy till late 2014 where he fell out with former Governor Liyel Imoke and was denied a fourth term in the Senate where he is reputed for sponsoring over a dozen bills in the Seventh Assembly including the Freedom of Information bill which were signed into law.
