R-L: The Speaker of Cross River House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. John Gaul Lebo, Wife of the Cross River State Governor, Dr. Mrs. Linda Ayade, His Excellency, Professor Ben Ayade, Governor of Cross River State, his Deputy, Professor Ivara Esu, Leader of Seagulls Carnival Band, Princess Florence Ita Giwa and the Commissioner for Climate Change and Forestry, Dr. Mrs. Alice Ekwu, during the 2016 Calabar Green Carnival in Calabar.

Christmas turned out a bad day for Ayade’s political appointees and legislators because the governor refused to pay them statutory salaries and allowances to enable them go for Christmas.

The reality is that the political appointees of the governor are complete loosing relevance at their respective wards as they are ill mobilized to fund their political structures. The political aides remained indoors as and most became incommunicado because they could not withstand pressure from their respective loyalist who were expectant of some form of Christmas hampers from their boss.

Having turned the Cross River State House of Assembly into slaves through the inept leadership of John Gaul Lebo, the governor embarrassed each legislator with a paltry sum of one hundred thousand naira as Christmas gift to celebrate with their constituents.

Take for instance Boki II constituency, Hon. Hilary Bisong is said to have got about 21,600 votes and was given hundred thousand naira only for his constituents. How can he adequately cater for his teaming supporters.

Unfortunately, Hilary Bisong appeared a voice of change for the independence of the Cross River State House of Assembly at one point: but today he has been bought over by John Gaul Lebo and has completely lost his radical voice.

It is difficult to comprehend why the Cross River State House of Assembly has reduced itself into a slavish position. It is the same house of Assembly that facilitate illegal disbursement by the government of Ayade that is treated in bad coin.

In an interview with one aide to the governor that begs for confidentiality, the aide avers thus ” we are dying in silence, I can’t understand a situation where I will be running from my people in a festive period like Christmas. Continuing, the aide confessed that working for Ayade is fast killing his political relevance and my constituents hardly understand the situation of things.

Life is not funny for Ayade’s aide, the situation in Cross River State is becoming that of our governor, his in-laws and his family eating fat while the rest of the people are suffering
