Prior to the supreme Court victory judgement of Governor Ayade Benedict monies came to the state through SUBEB and federal government intervention funds to States for the month of November.
SUBEB recorded increased funds after the reduction of counterpart funding for education. The government of Cross River State quickly paid the Reduced percentage as counterpart funding and got monies released to SUBEB running into billions. Another huge amount was released Cross River State by the Federal Government as intervention funds to all states. These intervention funds of the Federation was to help State government clear backlogs of salaries and pensions. Unconfirmed source holds that the Federal Government Allocation to Cross River State rose to 22 billion naira in the month of November; this source is subject to further investigation and I urge Cross River to join me to dig deep until we know the actual amount released by the Federal Government to Cross River State as Federal Government intervention funds
As soon as the monies came to Cross River State, the government of Ben Ayade went into a jamboree of spending. SUBEB began award of contracts to fathom companies believed to be owned by Frank Ayade without a bidding process and in violation of due process. Contractors were paid off front with no job description nor bidding nor verification of companies and immediate disbursement of funds was made to fathom companies and contractors. Due process was thrown out of the dust to save Ayade and return him as governor, desperation rose against reason and the future of education sacrificed for an individual. These off front monies released to fathom companies by SUBEB Chairman was targeted at leaving enough funds in the hands of the governor to negotiate his supreme Court judgement.
The lavished extravagance of the governor assisted in his pre supreme Court judgement consultation and meetings with stakeholders in both PDP and APC. Recall the fact that the governor practically left Cross River State to Abuja before the supreme Court judgement; Recall that the governor had organised supreme Court victory party with disbursement of monies to his aides for transport allowance and accommodation in Abuja before the supreme Court judgement; Recall the welcome back party of the governor that culminated in renting crowds to celebrate and welcome back the governor from Abuja after the Supreme Court victory. Prince Michael Nku Abuo at least agreed to the fact that he was given #300, 000 to mobilize crowd. Commissioners were said to have been given 1 million naira each
Another source of income that has boosted Ayade’s extravagance is the Federation Government increased Allocations to assist the government pay backlog of salaries and pensions. The governor immediately created a new project the Nfom-Ogoja-Obudu high way as a conduit pipe to siphon the money. When the project was initiated is still a dream, how a supplementary budget was approved by our Cross River State robber stamped House of Assembly is a mirage.
Reliable information has it that the governor has already collected 6 billion naira for the construction of the Nfom-Ogoja-Obudu.
Monies were immediately paid off front to a contractor to execute a 30 billion construction of Nfom-Ogoja-Obudu road. Bull dozers were mobilized to site only for a day. Today Cross River State citizenry are still wondering in bewilderment why the much hyped work that compelled the governor to site has just been stopped after one day initial garagara. Fake contractors have got the money the rest is history.
Besides, confirmed information has it that the governor collected 10 billion naira off front from all queries operating in Cross River State account. These monies are not reflected in any state account as internally generated revenue. Cross River State today generates no internal revenue from the queries and stones are lifted with nothing paid to state account as at today
The governor has also instructed his commissioners to open accounts in various banks and monies generated by his commissioners is not accounted for.
We must not seat and see our monies wasted and unaccounted for. Arise and safe our state. I call on every one to join in the mission of saving Cross River State from hawks. . . !
