The Speaker, Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon John Gaul Lebo has charged the House committee on education to look into the criteria for the appointment of school inspectors in the Ministry of Education bearing in mind that there are policies of government that guides the functions of the ministry in the appointment of the school inspectors. Said he would hold the House committee on education responsible if report on their findings regarding.
After an exhaustive deliberation amongst members, the house resolved that the house committee on education should liaise with the ministry of education for detailed brief on concerns raised in the motion and report to the house in two weeks.
The house also resolved that the house committee on education should put in place a clearer recommendation for the appointments of school inspectors.
Earlier, the leader of the House and member representing Obanliku state constituency Rt. Hon Moses U. Ucheche had in a motion call on the Cross River State Ministry of Education to urgently halt the withdrawal of teachers from secondary school to serve as inspector of schools. He further said that there have been cases of teachers of public secondary schools withdrawn from schools to become inspectors of schools instead of teaching in various secondary schools.
