Afterschool Centre for Career Development (ACCD) (Formerly known as Afterschool Peer Mentoring Project) is a capacity development organization committed to assisting young persons in transitional stages of their lives set goals and walks them through the achievement of such goals. The Project provides growth opportunities and self as well as career development interventions for and with young people enabling them transit seamlessly from school to work.
As part of its objectives to proving learning and growth opportunities for young people in Nigeria, Afterschool Centre for Career Development is partnering with Microsoft Nigeria, The Future Project, TechHiveNigeria and Techonovation to implement the Computer Sciences Education Week – December 7th – 13th 2016 through the HOUR OF CODE initiative.
The Hour of Code is an annual international event that focuses on introducing students, young people and adults to the world of technology by teaching them programming skills in 1 Hour as part of the Computer Science Education Week. Hour of Code is an industry wide campaign designed to demystify code (programming) and show that anybody can learn the basics. Hour of Code Ambassadors include The President of the United States of America, Barrack Obama, the Founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, Founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates amongst others.
The Computer Sciences Education week 2016 will be celebrated through a week long activities, including in school and out of school coding workshops, coding competitions and a #CodeCalabar Conference with the aim of improving the digital skills of young people in our community and enabling them realise the opportunities for employment and engagement in Digital Communications and Technology industry.

At Afterschool Centre for Career Development we employ various strategic interventions to counsel, train and provide growth opportunities for young people to prepare for the world of work through a peer mentoring model.
