International Volunteer Day (IVD) is Celeberated Globally on December 5th every year sequel to the United Nations General Assembly Resolutin A/RES/40/212 ON 17th December, 1985, This Day is to celebrate the contributions and achievement of Volunteers accross the World, theme: #GlobalApplause – give volunteers a hand, recognizes volunteers worldwide and all they do in making peace and sustainable development a reality.
Volunteers are committed advocates of making the world a better place. From local community volunteers to those on the frontline of natural disasters, volunteers are quintessential to humanity – the billion volunteers globally bring communities together. And the world is not only changed by people who share the volunteer spirit, volunteers, showing up and stepping up, become global citizens who highlight our common human future on this planet.
Therefore, empowering volunteers for Sustainable development we believe:
1. funding for Youth Development Programmes from Governments, Stakeholders’ and International Civil Society Organizations and Developmental Partners and we urge volunteers across the African and world to keep the Spirit alive for a global change of the comminity as global Citizens.
In this regard, Stakeholders within the African continent and the World must partner with Youth based organizations which are Volunteers to enhanced capacity building for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), 2015 – 2030 and Agenda 2063 of the African Union.
Dear Volunteers, “there can be no greater gift than that of giving one’s time and energy to help others without expecting anything in return” – Nelson Mandela.
“The people of the world have asked us to shine a light on a future of promise and opportunity. Member States have responded with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development… It is an agenda for people, to end poverty in all its forms. An agenda for the planet, our common home. An agenda for shared prosperity, peace and partnership.” – UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon for we to achieved this we must salute the courage of Volunteers Globally.
