Governor Benedict Ayade has reassured youths of Cross river state of his resolve to lay a solid economic foundation for the state in spite of the present challenges in the country.
The Governor addressed a rally of thousands of youths who besieged the government house in Calabar after marching across the major streets of the state capital in a show of solidarity and support to his administration.
Governor AYADE who was flanked by several youth leaders and political stalwarts in the state commended the youths for their peaceful disposition and support which have allowed for meaningful progress to be recorded in the state, and urged them to continue to strive towards being self – reliant in order to fit into the emerging opportunities created by his administration.
He revealed that in the next few days, “the rice mill under construction will employ thousands.
He recounted that several youths of the state are currently undergoing screening to start work at the emerging green police, while several others are currently working at the the garment factory.
Governor Ayade said he was challenged by the overwhelming show of support and solidarity by the youths and promised to even surprise them with more programmes.
“The youths have given me their support, and I have resolved that no matter the economy of Nigeria, our youths must be better off.”
Earlier before the ‘I Stand With Ayade ’ show procession at Ikom stadium Hall, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, had charged them to continue in their overwhelming support for the governor.
The speaker acknowledged the unprecedented hunger and high cost of living in the country under the watch of the APC –led federal government and lauded Governor Ayade for his sterling managerial qualities that have brought about succour in the state.
Addressing the rally, some youth leaders including the Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Matters Declan Ogar , the PDP State Youth Leader , the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Grassroot Political Mobilization, all acknowledged the efforts of the governor in equipping the youths for the future.
Highpoint of the ceremony was the declaration of the governor as the Grand Commander of the Youths.
The state PDP commended Governor Ayade for being a worthy product of the party and assured that the party has already adopted him ahead of 2019 governorship election in the state.
The youths in their thousands stirred the hitherto peaceful atmosphere in Cross river by marching along major roads chanting solidarity songs for the Governor and the Peoples Democratic Party.
Coming from all local government areas in the state, the youths expressed satisfaction with Governor Ayade for his various youth friendly programmes such as empowerments, interest – free loans, trainings in Agriculture, engineering and other specialized fields.
