The Speaker, Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. John Gaul Lebo has commended the role of women in every society.
The Speaker made the commendation when he received yet another award from Women Advancement for Economic and Leadership Empowerment in Africa, in his office.
Lebo described women as ‘currency not yet spent’ and used the opportunity to reiterate his commitment to the Association’s cause, thanking the group for finding him fit for the award.
Speaking during the presentation, the Chairman of the group, Mrs. Kate Ajibike, lauded the speaker for his contribution to the development of women and children in the State observing that the speaker has been very supportive of the Governor Ayade led administration, having passed several bills and motions and that the State has never witnessed any Legislative/Executive crisis describing it as the best in the country which was the basis for his selection by the group.
Ajibike said Women Advancement for economic Empowerment and Leadership in Africa is for the empowerment of women and children, but that for 2016, the group decided to honour both the speaker and wife of the Governor, Dr. Mrs. Linda Ayade, for their outstanding role in development in the State, which has caused women to be celebrated in the State .
Highpoint of the visit was the presentation of the award to the Speaker, which was witnessed by Rt. Hon. Eteng Williams, member representing Yakuur II State Constituency and some axecutive members of the group, including Mrs. RoseMary Aaron, State Liason Director, and Mrs. Philomena Etim, Publicity Secretary.
