Ray Morphy, a former Chairman of Cross River State Tourism Board, has spoken out against the attempt to use of 500m to organise a Miss Climate Change Beauty Pageant by the Cross River State Government.
Addressing news men in Abuja, Ray Morphy who was until recently Gov Ayade’s Special Adviser on Strategy lambasted the Governor for a misplacement of priorities. He wondered how that expenditure was justified in the face of dwindling economic resources and the yawning infrastructure needs of CRS!
Mr Morphy opined that such money was better spent rebuilding decaying public schools within the state such as Ntol Comprehensive, Ogoja and St Stevens Obudu.
Reminded that CRS was a tourism state, Ray Murphy insisted that modern tourism is infrastructure driven, as in the case of DUBAI, as such the state was better off spending the money on road and other foundational needs of the people of Cross River.
Mr Morphy wondered how a state without roads could waste such money on a silly event such as beauty pageant, an which had no moral, economic or intellectual value to the teeming masses of the needy state!
Mr Morphy called on well meaning citizens of Cross River including those in the state and national Assemblies to prevail on the Governor to let sanity prevail in that state!
