The inside of Calabar Garment Factory

My Discovery at the Garment Factory today that proves Cross River is really setting the stage for Industrialization.

By Solomon Asha

Speaking to some of the workers in the Garment Factory today, renewed my convictions and passion for Governor Ben Ayade. In fact, someone should tell the Governor that, “I, Inok Solomon will want to be his first appointee to work for free.”

Inside the Calabar Garment Factory

With about 1,500 machines in the Garment Factory, None of these is known to the Nigeria clothe makers. At this moment, some are still yet to be used, as those under training, do not have the knowledge of their functionality. A team of Chines need to come again to do more training, so as to equip those trained before to gain the knowledge and train others. The Garment Factory at this moment is a training centre to the modern cloth makers. Equipping Cross Riverians, with the expertise and skills in the use and operation of industrial clothes making machines.

To send 3,000 Cross Riverians to China for training in the use of these Garment Factory machines would cost the state two times more, the cost of building the Garment Factory. Today, all the 3, 000 workers, are undergoing training. Exposed to these machines broadens their ideas to industrial expansion and give them advantage above all the clothes makers in Nigeria and Africa at large.

These will be very difficult if this Garment Factory was far away from Calabar, where there is no Airport to move these trainers in and out of the state at the short term. It is interesting to note that, once our children are trained as trainers, building another Garment Factory in any part of the state or country will have Cross Riverians as consultants and Technicians.

It is important to note, that today, Cross Riverians undergoing training at the Garment Factory are the first to be exposed to these modern Garment Factory machines. We are taking over the modern industrial cloth making expertise as first in Nigeria and Africa to have such facilities.

This is transforming the environment instead of trying to transform the people politically. We add value to our environment and give opportunities to the teaming youths.

A Visit to the Garment Factory will open your vision to the dreams of a man, “The Digital Governor.” Not even Man, will judge him out of office.
